Spring Session Quick Facts;
Ages:
5 to 17

Sessions: Each session consists of six 90 minute classes that meet once a week for six weeks.
Session Fees; $50 for six 90 minute classes
Material fees; Acrylic painting, watercolor and mixed media have material fees
Clay Days: $20 per 90 minute class includes materials
Drop-ins: Drop-ins are welcomed if space available
Drop-in fee: Drop-in fee is $10 plus materials if applicable
Payment Methods: PayPal, Credit Card, Cash or Check 

 

Summer Camp Schedule-  
The morning session is Monday Through Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Afternoon session is Tuesday through Thursday 1:30pm to 4:30pm (the lessons are different).
A camper can take a full day camp Tuesday through Thursday.

General Class Description and Schedule:

Drawing classes - $50 for six week session - minimum class size 5 students.

Descprition:

The drawing class uses a step by step method of teaching art. Our students learn about different artists  and how and why they constructed their work. The learn how to use many different mediums and materials to create their drawing.

 

Watercolor classes  - $50 for six week session plus $10 for materials minimum class size :5
Tuesday 10am-11:30am
Tuesday 7pm to 8:30pm (all ages)

Description:

The most brilliant quality of watercolors is transparency and in this class students will learn how to use it in their watercolor paintings. We will learn how to use the palette, how to mix color in order to have the right shade, and a lot about brushes and brushstrokes. Artists like O'Keefe, Monet and Klee are used as inspiration.

 

Acrylic Painting Classes - $50 for six week session plus $25 for materials minimum class size :5
Wednesday 1pm to 2:30pm
Wednesday 6pm to 7:30pm

Description:

Acrylic paint is a very versatile medium. It can be used in thin washes like watercolors or in thicker strokes similar to oils but with a quicker drying time. Acrylic painting introduces the beginning art student to the basics from how to handle the paint and its tools to introducing techniques used by professional artists to produce beautiful paintings. We use masters like Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso  and many others as inspiration for our work. 

 

Mixed Media Class - $50 for six week session plus $10 for materials minimum class size :5
Wednesday 1pm to 2:30pm

Description:

The mixed media class gives the students the opportunity work with several different mediums on several different materials. The students will create collages, paper mache and more. Artists like Picasso, Miro and Warhol are used to inspire the students projects.

 

Art Journal Class -  $50 for six week session plus $10  for materials minimum class size 5

The art journal class combines drawing and other mediums. Each student receives a art journal and has weekly assignments. In the art journal class students tell visual stories.

 

Teen Art Journal Class -  $50 for six week session plus $10  for materials minimum class size 5
Thursday 1pm to 2:30pm

Class Description:
The teen art journal class is for students 12 years of age  and older. The class combines drawing and other mediums. Each student receives a art journal and has weekly assignments. In the Teen art journal class students tell visual stories and also use words.

 

Paper Mache Class - $50 for six week session plus $10 for materials minimum class size :5
Tuesday 2pm to 3:30pm

Description:

The Paper Mache class gives the students the opportunity work with paper mache medium to create several projects. Artists like Picasso, Miro and Warhol are used to inspire the students projects.

 

Clay Sculpture /Hand-Built Pottery Class is Friday's  (2:30 pm to 4pm) - $20 per class which includes materials - minimum class size 6






Hand-Built Pottery and Clay Sculpture Class

The hand-built pottery and sculpture classes will be taught by Franny Hyde. The classes will take students through process of working with clay, using under glazes, glaze, and firing of their work.
 
Franny Hyde is a local ceramic artist, specializing in sculpting animals and people. She is a former elementary art teacher, marketing executive, and graduate of St. Olaf College. She is currently enjoying working with children as a teaching artist for Northern Clay Centers ClayToGo outreach program and summer Clay Camp, as well as a Studio Monitor. Her sculpture is in several private collections in the Twin Cities area, Madison, WI, New York, and Stockholm.
